As our dyking stone is all hand picked, care is taken to ensure the stone has all of the following qualities: Flat bedded Different dimensions to provide a good mix Manageable size Once graded the stone is stored inside These qualities combined with minimum wastage contribute greatly to on-site efficiency and quality of build. Available in either bulk or our 500kg bags ideal for on-site use.

 
Our Hand Picked Dyking Stone is predominantly sandstone with a minimal percentage of shale.    During processing and picking the majority of this shale is removed, however, the finished product will still retain a percentage of shale throughout.

 We would strongly advise that your dyke is built by a competent and qualified dyker who is familiar with building with Denfind Dyking Stone and who is made aware that there is a percentage of shale throughout the sandstone.   Ideally he or she will have completed one of Denfind Stone’s Training Courses.

 The shale is ideal for packing material within the dyke and should not be considered as waste.    It should never be used to build the outer faces of the wall and never used as copes.   If this happens there is a high risk of shale disintegration due to weathering and the natural ageing process.
